In honor of the NBA Allstar Game, Let’s take a moment to recognize some of the greatest basketball players of all-time.
From the Harlem Globetrotters up to the present day game African-American’s have revolutionized the game of basketball and the industry as a whole on and off the court.
These 10 players are my personal choices for G.O.A.T.’s…. Enjoy the highlight reels.
1) Michael “Air” Jordan: The most dynamic highflying player who put basketball on the world stage and also has two 3-Peats with the same team and a perfect 6-0 record in NBA Championship Finals.
3) Bill Russell: The defensive specialist and NBA Title holder who won 8 consecutive Championships and has 11 NBA Titles with the Boston Celtics.
6) Irving “Magic” Johnson: The player who refined the point guard position and was the architect of the Los Angeles Lakers “Showtime” style of play.
10) Larry “The Legend” Bird: The highly regarded Best Clutch performer who also made the “baseline, over the backboard” shot famous.
Honorable Mention: Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon – The most athletic, agile player at the center position.
Reflection: The “G.O.A.T. conversation is one that continues to be debated amongst basketball lovers everywhere. I personally don’t think the debate can ever be definitively settled because there are too many changes within the game from era to era.
From the implementation of the 3-Point line, rule changes, the way games are refereed, etc., choosing one player as the G.O.A.T. over the other would strictly be a hypothetical guess. With that being said, no matter which player one prefers, there’s no doubting the greatness of each player on this list.
Much love and respect to all of the players for their unique contributions to the game of basketball… Thank you!!!
“I love this game”
